Alba, 34, a Valencia native who joined the team in 2012, has won six La Liga championships, five Copa del Rey trophies, and the 2015 Champions League.
For the Catalan club, he has made 458 appearances, including 29 this year as Barcelona won La Liga.
Sergio Busquets, the club captain, and Alba will both depart this summer.
"FC Barcelona would like to publicly express its gratitude to Alba for his professionalism, commitment, and dedication, as well as his consistently positive and friendly relationship with all members of the Barca family, and wishes him every success in the future," read a statement on the club's website.
Jordi, Barcelona will always be your home.
The choice is being made as Barcelona reorganizes their team to comply with La Liga's financial fair play regulations.
In order to recruit four new players before the current season, the club sold shares of their media production company Barca Studios, and their future television rights.
They subsequently had to let go of more players in order to sign Jules Kounde, a defender from France who had come over from Sevilla.
