MUZAFFARABAD: Following the disqualification of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in the contempt of court case, Senior Minister Khawaja Farooq Ahmed was given the powers of the Prime Minister till the election of the new Leader of the House.

Azad Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry signed the summary delegating the prime minister's authority to the senior minister till the new Leader of the House is elected.
It should be noted that on the last day, the court sentenced Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas till the court's dismissal and deemed him ineligible for any public position, while also rejecting his appeal for unconditional amnesty.
Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was elected to the assembly after winning the election from the LA 15 Bagh seat on 27 July 2021. He was sworn in as prime minister on 18 April 2022.
