With the exception of Cheick's "Iron Biby" Sanou's withdrawal on the first day of the 2023 World's Strongest Man (WSM) competition, there haven't been many injuries or withdrawals. On the last day of the competition, Jaco Schoonwinkel collapsed while attempting to lift 125 kilograms (276 pounds) and was unable to finish his second attempt at the Max Dumbbell event. Schoonwinkel's name was taken from the WSM scoreboard and he formally withdrew from the contest.
