While the Football Association investigates an incident in which he appeared to elbow Liverpool defender Andy Robertson, assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis won't be working any games.
In Sunday's 2-2 Premier League tie with Arsenal, Hatzidakis made contact with Robertson's chin after the Scotland international moved towards him at the conclusion of the first half.
When Robertson and some of his teammates confronted referee Paul Tierney, Robertson was arrested.
During the FA probe, the refereeing organization PGMOL declared it "will not be appointing Constantine Hatzidakis to fixtures in any of the competitions."
Chris Sutton, a former Blackburn striker, said on BBC Radio 5 Live on Sunday: "He has to be suspended. He will be forced to miss several games.
"You cannot allow aides to elbow each other. I'm not sure what he was thinking at all.
"I don't think I've ever experienced anything like this. Where are these things precedented?
Roy Keane, a former Manchester United midfielder, called 28-year-old Robertson "a big baby."
On Sky Sports, Keane commented, "He grabs the linesman first." "Robertson ought to be more concerned with his defense
. Simply continue the game.
"We will review the matter in full," according to PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited).
Hatzidakis' professional future may be in peril.
Keith Hackett, a former Premier League official, said before Hatzidakis was removed from the game: "I was trying to find an explanation as to why he did it and I came up with was he in fear?
He shouldn't be as he is in a secure setting with lots of protection.
"However, he responded inappropriately. He's obviously lost his cool.
Aleksandar Mitrovic, a striker for Fulham, is now serving an eight-game suspension after hitting referee Chris Kavanagh during their FA Cup loss to Manchester United last month.
The FA must make a significant decision regarding possible sanctions for Hatzidakis, according to Hackett.
His job is at risk if he is found guilty of this, according to Hackett.
"If Aleksandar Mitrovic is found guilty, this must be equal of the short-term ban that he received previously.
"I want a meeting of the FA this week to settle the matter by the weekend."
Former Premier League official Mark Clattenburg claimed in a Daily Mail article that Robertson "initiated contact" with Hatzidakis.
He stated, "Players can push us officials to the limit. They have the ability to provoke to the point where you might feel compelled to reciprocate.
But we are unable to answer in any scenario. Without a certain not physical. There will now be a cry for Hatzidakis to be blacklisted because of what he did.
"I don't believe Hatzidakis intended to elbow Robertson,"
