The number of prominent Islamic Jihad leaders killed since Israel started attacking Gaza on Tuesday has risen to five with the deaths of Ali Ghali, the leader of the group's rocket force, and Ahmed Abu Daqqa, a senior commander of its armed branch.
In response to Israeli assaults that occurred overnight, rockets have been launched.
More than 500 rockets launched by Palestinian resistance organizations were intercepted by Israeli missile defense. Israel has been under pressure from Palestinian organizations to lift its 16-year-old air, land, and sea blockade of the region.
